I am currently researching and teaching at the Chair of Leadership, Organization, and Human Resources as well as the Department of Management, Professional Services, and Sport Economics at the University of Potsdam.
In teaching, my focus is on the broad range of management. Either in small groups or large lecture halls with 500 students, I have held lectures and seminars for Bachelor and Master Students in strategic management, human resource management, organization, controlling, and service management.
In research, I have been working on different topics from interim management via health management through to management ethics. The common thread of most of my publications is the topic ‘change’ that also goes beyond an economic context and into the realm of social change. I am less interested in its history, which still has an effect in our present through path dependencies, but I am a lot more interested in future change in the form of exploration of alternative possible and probable futures, the evaluation of desirable and preventable/preemptive futures and in particular, the shaping of the future.
After finishing my two degrees in business administration and economic education, I started working on my first PhD thesis, dealing with the development dynamics of networks. I received my doctorate in Economics at Technische Universität Braunschweig (Technical University of Brunswick) in 2008. This was followed in 2011 by a second PhD from Freie Universität Berlin with a thesis on university didactics of futures studies.
Starting in summer semester of 2010, I was a teaching and research associate (postdoc) for two years at the Department of Management, Professional Services and Sports Economics. Then I worked as senior research fellow and took over as lecturer for various management lectures and seminars. I am still researching there, and offer a research colloquium every semester. In both winter semesters 2012/2013 and 2013/2014, I was also a visiting lecturer for personnel management at the former Char of Organization and Human Resources. Since the summer semester of 2015, I have been giving seminars at the Chair of Leadership, Organization and Human Resource. I am also supervising Bachelor and Master theses there.
From winter semester 2013/2014 to 2015/2016 I was a lecturer for three years for Corporate Strategy at ESCP Europe (Berlin Campus), the oldest business school in the world.
I have published a number of magazines and books, including several double-blind peer-reviewed papers.
In addition, I was founding Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Management (ZfM-Zeitschrift fuer Management), which was discontinued after six years.
